RWA-NYC Who's going?

RWA is having it's big annual bash in New York City the end of June and their "Readers for Life" Literacy Autographing event is Tuesday, June 28 from 5:30-7:30 pm. It's open to the public. Over 500 romance authors will be there! Many are favorites of mine! I'm giddy at the thought of seeing them together all in one room!

Though I'm not a member of RWA, I am attending the signing and I'll either be staying over that night in the city at the host hotel, The Marriott Marquis or I'll take a cab home (much cheaper). Even though I only live about 15 miles west of the city, I'm treating myself so I don't have to worry about driving home that night. Taking the next day off too and making the most of it. Give me a shout if you're going too! What authors are you dying to meet?

A few of my must sees?

Diana Gabaldon (this is a no brainer and will be my 3rd time seeing her)
Julia Quinn
Robin Kaye
Sherry Thomas
Julie James
Carolyn Jewel
Colleen Gleason
Lauren Willig
Elizabeth Hoyt
Karen Hawkins
Sarah MacLean
Sabrina Jeffries
Celeste Bradley
Deanna Raybourn
Susanna Kearsley
Laura Lee Guhrke

Who are some of the authors I wish were going to be there that aren't? Darn!

Lisa Kleypas
Ciji Ware
Tasha Alexander
Jennifer Ashley
Karen Marie Moning
Judith McNaught
Loretta Chase
Julie Garwood
Jennifer Donnelly
Adele Ashworth
Linda Howard
Connie Brockway

So, for those of you that are going, or even if you're not - who's tables are/would you making a bee-line for and why?

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I'm going to knock tables over and trip on people in line to get to Susanna Kearsley first! Since she's from Canada, she's not often in the US for book signings, and she's one of my newest favs (The Winter Sea and Mariana). Of course, I want to see Diana Gabaldon and hope to get some chat time with Lauren Willig & Deanna Raybourn. (big-time excitement to meet Deanna).

Others I want to meet? Julia Quinn, Elizabeth Hoyt, Joanna Bourne, Eloisa James, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, and Jayne Ann Krentz (aka Amanda Quick).

I wish Judith McNaught, Tasha Alexander, & Meredith Duran would be there, but alas, no.

See ya there! :)

Isn't it exciting?! I'm so happy you'll be there! I wonder how early people start arriving, do they line up, I wonder before it starts?

Well, I don't know the in's and out's of this, but it sounds like a good time to pop an e-mail to your author pal Robyn to get some insider info. (Or maybe even Lauren could give you some inside scoop?)

Thanks, I took your advice!

Thanks Patti, I always hear great stuff too! Especially when the RITA's are announced. I won't be at the dinner, but at least I'll get to the signing and see so many favorites!

I won't be going this year, but I did go to an RWA conference in NYC a few years ago. I had SO MUCH FUN! You are so fortunate to be able to attend this year.

Romance writers are the equal of mystery writers when it comes to 'niceness'. They are just wonderful to meet and greet. Well, you know that already.

I still have some of the autographed paperbacks I picked up then. I was more of a romance reader then than I am now, but I still re-read my favorites.

Did you see my review of an old Kathleen Creighton book, Julie? (For Forgotten Book Friday last week) Do you read her? She's a terrific romantic suspense writer.

Yvette, yes, I hear Romance Writers are indeed very nice, and those that I've met so far have confirmed that opinion. No, I haven't read your review, in fact, I've never even heard of that author. I'll go check it out, thanks!
