The jaded side of me thinks that alot of the buzz on this book is due to a well orchestrated campaign by the publisher and it doesn't hurt they got some plum reviews in The New Yorker and the NY Times Book Review. Everyone wants to jump on the literary high brow bandwagon. Does it deserve all the glamour? No, I enjoyed Margaret George's book much more, it was just a lighter, entertaining read. I did attempt to begin reading this in hard cover and realized I just was not in the mood to read a heavy book that everyone said they had to take in small doses. It's not a page turner, can't put down type of book - at all. It's worth savoring, some of the descriptions and Cromwell's thoughts on others were priceless. It was much easier for me to listen to it on my daily commute and while making dinner!Julie at Outlandish Dreaminghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16595989966510183531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781006155885226657.post-86303738840822534632009-12-02T20:11:44.573-05:002009-12-02T20:11:44.573-05:00I'm glad you posted this....I'm just getti...I'm glad you posted this....I'm just getting ready to start reading this one (hard copy, not audio) and am a little iffy on the whole thing. I still feel it was an obscure stretch to name it Wolf Hall - though it's a catchy title!Julie at Outlandish Dreaminghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16595989966510183531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781006155885226657.post-46302480891826750892009-12-01T11:08:44.583-05:002009-12-01T11:08:44.583-05:00Great review! Impressive!

I kind of thought the title alluded to Cromwell's forward-thinking. He rose to power because of the Boleyns, but he never let himself be fully dependent on them, always looking for the next big break.Aartihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02354873119188597611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781006155885226657.post-23844329007811054112009-12-01T02:54:19.586-05:002009-12-01T02:54:19.586-05:00Nice review :)
